Brilliant Sydney guitarist James Muller toured this version of his Trio to Melbourne, for the MJC, in December. Combining outstanding young Sydney acoustic bassist Alex Boneham and Perth-based drummer Ben Vanderwal, Muller has now organized a national tour for this band.

While still in his 20s Muller had already won the 2000 ARIA & Mo awards, 2004 MCA Freedman Fellowship and 2000 National Jazz Guitar Award. After two CDs on ABC, he recorded Kaboom, an acclaimed international collaboration in New York with John Scofield’s drummer Bill Stewart and bassist Matt Penman. His profile was further enhanced by his collaboration with guitarist Scofield (with Vanderwal on drums) at the 2008 Wangaratta Festival. He currently tours with James Morrison, and is featured on Morrison’s latest CD, Three’s Company, a Trio album, and recently performed with his Quartet at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
