Italian jazz saxophonist and composer Mirko Guerrini has performed with many leading Italian musicians including Stefano Bollani, Stefano Battaglia and Enrico Rava. Other credits include work with international artists Kenny Wheeler, Billy Cobham, Hilario Duran, Peter Erskine, John Taylor, Mark Feldman, and Pierre Dorge.

Having performed here with Bollani as part of the 2005 Umbria Festival, Guerrini returned in 2010 and 2011 as part of the on-going international artists program at Monash University's Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music. In addition to his artist-in-residence work of taking workshops and ensembles, he also performed outstanding concerts for the MJC in both years.

For this tour Guerrini will be joined in a quartet by Marc Hannaford (piano), Frank DiSario (acoustic bass) and Danny Fischer (drums). They will play originals from his latest CDs "Cirko Guerrini" and "Il Bianco e l'Augusto"(on the Emarcy-Universal label), plus some standards.
