Sydney tenor saxophonist Sean Coffin has been a stalwart in the Sydney jazz and music scene for over two decades, performing mostly with his original groups the Coffin Brothers (20 years), SCQUINT, and the Sean Coffin Trio, as well as being an influential teacher. Coffin spent ten years studying at Berklee in Boston, followed by a post-graduate course at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, with teachers such as George Garzone. Lecturing at the Australian Institute of Music since his return in 2000his dynamic and powerful improvising and compositional style which will be on display in Melbourne once again with a sympathetic Melbourne trio of Daniel Gassin (piano), Sam Zerna (bass) and Craig Simon (drums).
