Since moving here in 2008 after being a finalist in the 2007 Wangaratta Guitar Jazz Awards finalist, guitarist Hugh Stuckey has become an in-demand member of the Melbourne scene, including the James Annesley Quartet, Sarah McKenzie Quintet, and Paper Plane (as well as Adelaide project band The Burrow). He will be debuting his new Trio, comprising the dynamic forces of drummer Craig Simon and Sydney bassist and ‘Bell’ Award Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year, Alex Boneham. This trio represents his unique take on contemporary jazz, finding a point where harmonic and rhythmic intricacy meet musical simplicity. This MJC performance marks the final day of recording for this trio's debut album featuring Hugh's compositions.
