"Sarah McKenzie is a musical marvel. She sings with the kind of phrasing that only a true jazz player can come up with, while her groove on the piano is the stuff that makes people want to play jazz" - James Morrison.
Sarah is one of our home grown stars living the life many young local vocalist dreams of - sharing the stage with Michael Buble, Chris Botti, John Patitucci & Enrico Rava to name a few. After having moved to Boston to finish her studies on a full tuition scholarship, Sarah has gone on to win the ARIA award for her album "Close Your Eyes", and is getting fabulous reviews for her latest work, "We Could be Lovers".
She has performed at most the big international jazz festivals here and abroad including the Umbria Jazz Fesitval & the Monterey Jazz Festival, from which she always returns with rave reviews and waves of new fans. Her remarkably mature yet refreshing renditions of popular standards remind us that great jazz standards are structures through which we find true inspiration, and her own compositions leverage the power of her jazz instincts and the force of her talent and instrument.
She's not home for long, so don't miss this rare performance before she embarks on a European tour to present her new album.
Tonight features Hugh Stuckey (guitar), Tamara Murphy (double bass), & Craig Simon (drums).
